Woah! Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my virtual world, I greatly appreciate it.
I am a first generation Vietnamese American actor, born in Greensboro, North Carolina, to two Vietnamese freedom fighters, turned reeducation camp prisoners, turned refugees, turned American citizens.
Growing up bilingual and surrounded by a melting pot of cultures, it was natural for me to have a thirst for studying how we, as humans, interact with one another and our environment, at different points in the history of our civilization. I would borrow baskets upon baskets of books from the library, and then act out scenes from the books using my sometimes unwilling sister as the auxiliary characters. The living room was our stage.
This curiosity lead me to pursue a BFA in Acting at Brooklyn College, where my foundation was Stanislavsky. I was trained in Shakespeare, Alexander Technique, Chuck Jones voice production, Improvisation, Solo Performance, Stage Combat (I can wield a katana with aplomb), and Acting on Camera.
I also delved into a month-long intensive study at the Movement Theatre Studio where we focused on the role of the Actor as the Creator using the pedagogy of LeCoq. There I learned greater control of my body through Neutral Mask work, Clown, and Ensemble play.
Beyond any formal training, what it all comes down to is that I’m a kid who has always dreamed of being an astronaut, a doctor, the president, a warrior princess, among countless other dreams, wanting to make my dreams come true through acting and hoping that along the way, I find brave like-minded dreamers.
